Expansion Coming Soon

2008-07-01

Maybe not the type of expansion you are thinking of but excitement is building every day among some of our employees. It has been several years since any of our employees have added to their families but we currently have two employees in a race to see who is first to produce a son. Both babies are due in mid August and both mothers are really hoping to be ahead of that date. These will be the first children for both families so there is a great deal of excitement by both fathers-to-be. Joel and Melissa plan to name their son Gavin J??? (middle name still under negotiation) and his due date is August 18. Darrell and Ashley have decided to name their son Jacob Raymond and he is due on August 16. Jacob Raymond will also be the first grandson of Art Dixon and the first nephew of Scott Dixon. We are excited for all involved but are not looking forward to two key employees being away from work at the same time.

Rubber Roller Group Meeting

2008-06-01

The Rubber Roller Group annual meeting was held in Dallas, Texas May 4-6.  The meeting was held by both roller manufacturers and suppliers to the industry.  Scott Dixon represented Bluegrass Roller Service and once again participated in a panel discussion on the state of the industry.  Scott has served as President of the Rubber Roller Group for the past two years and will be Chairman for the next two years.

The group is taking steps to expand their membership and encourage attendance at their next meeting to be held in Orlando, Florida May 5-7, 2008.

Integrating for Productivity

2008-05-01

As with many smaller companies we have grown and added equipment and software programs as needed.  This did not result in an efficient administrative and production system.  We found we were doing too many jobs multiple times in order to get them into the system where we needed them.  We had to enter a job into one software package to produce production documents, another to track and schedule the job and a third package to invoice and account for the job.

In order to better service our customers, reduce redundancy in our systems and improve productivity throughout our organization we have committed to purchase an integrated software package from E-2.  Our goal is to replace all of our current software systems by the end of July with the E-2 package.  We will expand the program before the end of the year to include “real time” data collection on the shop floor to allow us to track efficiency and true job cost.
