About Us
Bluegrass Roller Service traces its origins back to 1981 when Meisner Roller Company was started in a 3,500-square-foot facility by Maury Meisner. As the owner of Kentucky Machine and Tool, Maury saw that a roller company would fill a vital need for his customers. Scott Dixon joined the company as a salesman in 1994, giving him an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up. Scott realized the vast untapped potential of the Meisner Roller Company, and when Maury decided to sell the business, it was an easy decision for Scott and his father, Art Dixon, to purchase the company in January 1998. This marked a new era for Meisner, and the new owners immediately began making improvements in physical equipment as well as in customer service.
In September 1999, the company relocated to a 9,000-square-foot plant in Shelbyville, Kentucky. A half-million-dollar investment in state-of-the-art machinery resulted in increased capabilities, improved quality and increased capacity. The result was sales growth that caused the company to once again outgrow their facility. When the Meisner Roller Company relocated to its present 20,000-square-foot facility in September 2007, few traces of the original company remained. The office and the plant were consolidated in the new location and began doing business as Bluegrass Roller Service.
